Region 7 - Regional Orientation & Welcome Day

The setting was the idyllic and picturesque village of Bath, on a leisurely Sunday morning and the spirits of all who gathered were lifted by the opening prayers and bhajans.

Our minds and hearts were prepared and focussed on Bhagawan through the words of our UKCC chair Dr Kiran Patel, who shared some amazing experiences in the Divine presence of Bhagawan, during his time there as a student of Swami’s Institute. He reminded us all of our good fortune to have been contemporaries of the Avatar of this Age. “To whom more is given, more is expected” set the tone and scene for the rest of the day.

The “Heart to Heart” workshops were well received, in particular the role-playing by attendees which yielded gasps and laughs alike while conveying powerful messages on how to conduct ourselves as devotees of our Lord. Humility, Devotion, Discipline and most importantly, Loyalty to the Divine Name and Form were amongst the key take home messages.

After a hearty feast of a lunch, the afternoon session saw reports from the Chairs of different groups from the region. The Cheltenham group spoke of the unifying and purifying impact that learning Rudram has had on its members who met weekly for 6 months and continue to chant Rudram on a weekly basis. We heard from the Bath group of one of its few youth members who makes regular trips to the local hospital to provide companionship and read to elderly patients which has now inspired the rest of the group to take up service to the elderly as well.

The SSE coordinator spoke of the impact that SSE was having in both the groups (Swindon and Bristol) that hold classes. By Bhagawan’s Grace, more children are being attracted to these classes and we heard of how children from different cultures and faiths have started to attend; their parents reporting that their children’s behaviour and performance at school has improved and attributing this to exposure to our Beloved Lord’s teachings. We were all reminded and humbled by this account as we were reminded that there is but one religion, The Religion of Love, and of Bhagawan’s ability to capture the hearts of all.

The UKCC panel enlightened us further and many thought provoking questions were raised and answered. We all left feeling energised and focussed in our efforts to be worthy instruments in the hands of our Lord Sai.
