Love and Light

Region 1 - Lewisham Centre Age Link Party

"Engage yourselves in service activity. Consider social service as service to God. This is the best way to earn God's Love. Love all and serve all. Your entire life will be sanctified thereby." – Baba

August is an important month in our annual calendar when we spend time with Age Link. On Saturday 17th August, Lewisham and Bromley Sai Centres hosted this annual event which brought lot of joy and happiness all around. One of the highlights of the day was the large turnout of volunteers; over 15 devotees had committed their afternoon in this wonderful service activity which demonstrated the dedication of our Sai community. From 1pm, our team of volunteers helped arrange tables, chairs, food and beverages in preparation of entertaining our elderly guests to include men and women from around the surrounding areas.

From 2:30pm onwards, the guests were treated with delicious and mouth-watering bites of cakes, snacks such as samosas and spring rolls and uninterrupted supplies of tea, coffee and juices. Volunteers were going around, topping up beverages whilst mingling. It was wonderful to see children as young as seven year old connecting with the elderly which brought lot of delight and elation on the faces of our guests. Following the light refreshments and snacks, the main attraction of the day commenced – BINGO! This simple, but extremely enjoyable game had everyone in the hall laughing, smiling and feeling at home, making the whole event seem very special. After the Bingo session, the unity in the room was clearly projected as everyone joined in and sung a few universal songs before the guests started to depart.

Seeing people of all ages in one room and displaying a great sense of harmony and sharing Love of Swami was sufficient satisfaction for all of us. We eagerly look forward to another opportunity and can’t wait for One thing we all agreed on is that none o linking again with Age Link!
