Region 1 - Young Adults Programme

Let us join The Lord in writing the future...

The first Young Adults Programme (YAP) of 2014 in Region 1 kick started with a very uplifting evening covering the aims, objectives and activities planned for 2014 at Centre level, Regional and National outlining the year ahead for the Region 1 Youth Wing.

Region 1 Youth Coordinator, brother Saiganesh, asked everyone in the group to think of someone who “inspired” them and why. Everyone's responses were different which was shared amongst all the youth.

Brother Saiganesh talked about various future exciting projects planned for 2014. He started by discussing Serve The Planet, where we will look to continue the food bank donations and also work with the SSE children focussing on ceiling on desires so that the children can save money to buy food items to donate to the food bank.

For Evelina & Royal Marsden hospital project currently done by Region 1 youth, we will be looking to arrange a fun day for the kids. This will include collecting Easter eggs and at the same time work with the SSE children so that they can also play a part on offering eggs. As a suggestion to make the day even more fun and special we will look to organise an Easter egg hunt.

Similarly to previous years, the youth in Region 1 work with an organisation called The Passage, and we will continue donating Christmas Hampers, but also looking at other ways in which the youth can get more involved throughout the year with regular services rather than just in December.

A Youth Retreat suggestion seemed to be very well received by everyone and so it’s looking likely this will be arranged in July as part of YAP and in conjunction with Gurupoornima the day after.

And finally with Valentines day soon approaching and February symbolising the month of Love Region 1 youth will be visiting a Nursing home in Bromley on Sunday 9th February 2014, where we will be spending some quality time and playing fun games with the elderly.

Looking ahead, 2014 for the youth will be filled with lots of exciting and fun projects, where we can share, integrate and offer our love and support to the community.
