Stokes Wood Good Values Holiday Club

"When young people know they have inherent values and are valued, they will be motivated to behave well and work hard"

The Stokes Wood Good Values 5-day holiday club is to take place at Stokes Wood Primary School, Blackett Avenue, Leicester LE3 9BX the week of Monday 26th May to Friday 30th May, 2014 from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

This Holiday Good Values Club is based on the Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) Programme, which is a multi-cultural, multi-faith, self-development programme. SSEHV emphasises the teaching of five core 'Human Values' which are inherent in all of us, namely Love, Peace, Truth, Right Conduct and Non-Violence, as well as related values such as respect for self, others and the environment, compassion, courage, honesty, etc. The programme does not impose any value system upon children, but empowers them to become more confident decision makers themselves.

The aim of the holiday club is to help children aged between 6 and 12 to develop positive values and self-confidence, whilst having fun. It is designed to help them experience and recognise the values within themselves. It teaches them:

* To be more aware of their actions and the repercussions of their actions.
* To respect each other, their parents, teachers, elders, and law and order.
* To accept and appreciate differences and also similarities between other people and themselves.

The Programme will help children to explore concepts of right and wrong through group discussions, quotations, storytelling, songs, games, sports, drama, art work, silent sitting and other activities.

Every day for five days each value will be selected and there will be an SSEHV lesson, Values based sports, EHV Games, Chi Kwon do, an assembly, storey telling and singing.

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire Jennifer, Lady Gretton JP will be presiding on the last day as Chief Guest.
