3rd ‘Sai Prema’ Prayer Meeting for Nepal; Bedford, UK

On Monday 25th May 2015, devotees from Region 3 joined together at Foster Hill Sai Centre in Bedford, to send their love and prayers to all those affected by the earthquakes in Nepal.

The Divine presence of our Dearest Bhagwan and his radiant energy was evident from the very outset and felt by all devotees present.

To put perspective on the earthquake we were fortunate to have first hand experience of the aftermath from Mr Peter Bashford, a member of the Foster Hill Sai Centre, who runs a charity called Asha Nepal, a human rights organisation working towards the social and economic empowerment of women and children affected by trafficking, abuse and child labour.

Mr Bashford described the fortitude of volunteers working at one of the foster homes who were turning up for work daily despite having either lost loved ones or their homes. Volunteers were also sleeping outside with the children. He went on to describe the fear amongst people and the love that they very much needed.

Prior to the commencement of the chanting, brother Kapil Dev Prasher, the Region 3 Youth Coordinator, guided devotees through the messages of love and support that could be written on cards provided by the Sri Sathya Sai Service Organisation (UK). All present were grateful to have had the opportunity to send messages and establish a Heart to Heart connection with the Brothers and Sister of Nepal.

Following this, devotees chanted the Gayatri mantra and also sang

Aum Sai Namo Namah.
Sri Sai Namo Namah
Jai Jai Sai Namo Namah
Sadguru Sai Namo Namah

We were also very fortunate to have as a guest speaker, Sri Naganand, a trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust from India. Although his visit to UK was personal, we were grateful that he took time out to travel to Bedford and join us in prayer and share his experiences with us.

An eminent lawyer who attends the Supreme Court and various High Courts and Tribunals in India, Sri Naganand spoke at length about his time at the Divine Lotus Feet of Our Beloved Swami and enthralled the audience with miracles he witnessed and valuable lessons learnt. One key point raised was that although we may experience difficult situations, Swami’s Grace was always there to protect us.

He also emphasised that Bhagwan’s presence and guidance was as strong now as it was when He was in His physical form and all that we needed to do was with faith and devotion to tune in to Him. He stressed that Bhagawan’s relationship with us was heart to heart and that He did not require a third party to communicate.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from the brother Seelan Moodley, the Region 3 Chairperson and a Youth of Foster Hill Sai Centre. Thereafter, bhajans were rendered and Arathi was offered to Swami.
