Question 27

In a Divine Discourse delivered in 2001, Swami teaches us on Oneness through the example of Buddha’s teachings:

“You have to make efforts to understand and experience unity in diversity. Buddha could experience bliss only after understanding this principle of unity. He sacrificed all sensual pleasures. He understood that all that we experience through the senses is useless and leads to bondage. He realized that misuse of the senses destroys the very humanness itself. He left his house and family and renounced the world. Ultimately, he realized Atmic unity and attained the state of Nirvana.”

According to Swami, of all the five senses, using which one can lead to understanding unity in multiplicity?

  1. Sacred Vision
  2. Sacred Speech
  3. Sacred Listening
  4. Sacred Feeling

Question 30

In His Divine 1990 Discourse, Swami said: “Many people complain that their troubles have not ended and God has shown no compassion towards them. They would do well to learn a lesson from an episode in the Ramayana. After Vibhishana had become friendly with Hanuman, he once asked the latter, ‘Hanuman! Although you are a monkey, you have been the recipient of the Lord's Grace. Although I have been ceaselessly engaged in the contemplation of Rama, how is it I have not secured His Grace?’

What was Hanuman's reply?

  1. "You are not pondering on the Name!"
  2. "You are more focused on the Image!"
  3. "You must do Narayana Seva!"
  4. “To what extent are you engaged in the service of Rama?”
