National Eswaramma Day

National Event

Whom the Muslims adore as Allah, the Christians as Jehovah, the Vaishnavas as Vallabhajaaksha and the Shaivites as Shambhu, who grants, in answer to their several prayers, health, prosperity and happiness to all, wherever they may be, He, the One God, is the God of all mankind. Discourse in Prashanthi Nilayam on 1-10-1976

As the children return from their Easter break, preparations are well underway to bring as many of our children, their parents, families and fellow brothers and sisters from across the United Kingdom to celebrate National Easwaramma Day.

Bhagavan has demonstrated to us through his own example by dedicating the 6th of May as Easwaramma Day, the day that is earmarked to revere and honour the ‘Chosen Mother’, Mother Easwaramma. It is a day where the children of the Balvikas or Sai Spiritual Education movement across the world celebrate it as Children’s Day and show their gratitude to their mothers. Mother Easwaramma was the embodiment of simplicity, selfless love, patience and compassion. By remembering her greatness and saintliness, Swami teaches us the importance of honouring our mothers at all times.

To kick start the activities in preparation for National Easwramma Day, many of our SSE children from many different centres from across the regions of the U.K. participated in a poster event held in the months of February and March this year on the theme ‘Unity of Faiths – Celebrating the Spirit of Oneness’. It was very evident that a lot of effort, creativity and thought had gone into these posters from the children who had participated. One such wonderful poster was selected to be made into the flyer for the occasion. All the entries will be displayed on the day at the venue for all to see.

The day itself will be an opportunity to show our love and gratitude to our Loving Mother Sai by way of our children participating in a procession, chanting of prayers, taking the pledge, listening to inspiring words, participating in fun activities planned for the children, humble offerings of music, songs and tableaus by and for our children. An exhibition is also being worked on the theme of ‘Unity of Faiths’ by our very talented and dedicated SSE alumni and Sai Youth. The highlight of course will be the good fortune of listening to the stories and experiences with our Beloved Lord from our esteemed guest speaker Dr T. Ravi Kumar, Warden and Associate Professor of Chemistry, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Brindavan Campus.

During the course of the coming weeks, I am sure many of our children will also have the opportunity to be part of the loving SSE offerings being planned within their regions and centres to celebrate Easwaramma Day. Whilst it is a day dedicated to celebrate our children’s strengths and talents, it is also a day when we remind ourselves of the noble qualities and virtues of Mother Easwaramma that Bhagavan wanted us to emulate and practice in our daily lives.

The planning team look forward to welcoming you and your family to the National Easwaramma Day on Saturday 4th May 2013.
