"People worship God with devotion and sincerity, but God is not-satisfied with external worship. You should serve society. Only service can confer bliss on you. By rendering service to society, not only can you alleviate the sufferings of the people, but you can also bring about transformation in their lives. Yad Bhavam Tad Bhavati (as is the feeling, so is the result). If you serve with sacred feelings, it is bound to yield sacred results. Serve society to your utmost capacity. You are doing bhajans in the morning and evening. The satisfaction that you get by participating in bhajans is temporary, whereas service confers permanent satisfaction. A few minutes ago, the students sang Bhaja Govindam, in which it is said, "Ma Kuru Dhanajana Yauvana Garvam, Harathi Nimeshath Kalah Sarvam" (do not be proud of your wealth, progeny and youth; the tide of time may destroy them in a moment)."

~ Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Krishna Janmashtami, 22-08-2000, Prasanthi Nilayam

Dear Love & Light Readers,
Loving Sai Ram to you!

July was a spiritually uplifting month for the many centres and regions of the UK when Guru Poornima was celebrated to commemorate the life of our Divine Teacher, Sri Sathya Sai Baba. It provided an occasion to recollect and reminiscence His Divine Life and an opportunity to offer our homage and gratitude to Him for ceaselessly guiding humanity on the path of Truth, Love, Right Conduct, Peace and Non-violence.

July also saw the conclusion to the holy month of Ramadan by our Muslim brothers and sisters, when their focus was upon unity, harmony, equal-mindedness and self-control.

The month of August opened its doors with august musical offering to the Divine Feet of our Lord, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, by our Youth in the Sai Kulwant Hall, Prasanthi Nilayam as part of the UK Pilgrimage that was titled, ‘Sai Samarpanam – One with Sai’. For the 56 devotees who had joined the pilgrimage 27th July to 2nd August, their presence was a consummation of their yearning of the past few months, the very rare blessing of the coveted boon, that of being present in His Divine Presence. The pilgrims were united only by the bond of Divine Love. For the many pilgrims, this was a life changing experience filled with thrill, delight, enthusiasm, excitement but also a time of reflection of their lives and their roles in the Divine Mission. Having being educated to the rare glimpses of the Divine Lord from very ardent devotees in Prasanthi Nilayam, the pilgrims were enlightened to the glimpses of Sai Krishna during the visit to Brindavan (located near Whitefield, Bangalore). This place is extraordinary, filled with stories of Baba’s Divine Plays and His Glory. The pilgrims were doubly rewarded with the rare benediction, that of sitting in the sanctum sanctorum where Baba used to sit during His stay in Brindavan.

Not surprisingly, Krishna Janmasthmi which was recently celebrated by large number of UK centres has a special place in the organisation calendar since the celebration identified one closely to the life of our Divine Master.

And finally, we look forward to the National Sai Retreat planned 29th – 31st August in Llandudno, North Wales, themed ‘Divine Grace: Fountain of Eternal Joy’. Prof M Nanjundaiah is our special guest speaker who was the ex-controller of examinations at the Sri Sathya Sai University, Prasanthi Nilayam. He had the rare privilege of being Baba’s translator for number of years and has wonderful stories to share of his interactions with our Lord. This is an opportunity not to be missed. Just a few places are remaining. If you wish to avail of this opportunity, then please register using the attached link without delay.

I pray that our readers have a spiritually energising August!

Best wishes and Sai Ram,
