Quote

"The day you establish yourselves in this aanandha, that day will be My Birthday for you. I must tell you another fact. Swami's Birthday is being celebrated at Puttaparthi because so many thousands come here from far-off places, in spite of the expense and great difficulty during the journey. Do not be under the impression that because it is Swami's Birthday, therefore you must come. I have no desire to have My Birthday celebrated; such trivial thoughts can never enter Me. My only desire is to share My aanandha with you, to encourage you to lead lives full of aanandha. My Birthday is when you get aanandha. My Mission is Lokaah samasthah sukhino bhavanthu---"May all the worlds be happy and prosperous." Become aware of the Unity of mankind; promote by love and service the joy and contentment of every one on earth and fill your hearts with that yearning. Then it becomes, verily, the Sai Mandhir (temple). From that moment I am where you are. Since this morning many people have greeted Me 'Happy Birthday!' No one need wish for happiness for Me, since I am always happy, everywhere. For Aanandha swaruupa (Embodiment of Divine bliss), why talk of happy birthday? You, too, must ever be happy and not wait for the birthday to recur every year to accumulate aanandha."

~ Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Prasanthi Nilayam, 23-11-1974

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Loving Sai Ram to you!

The month of October was a busy time for Centres and Groups around the country. We started on the 4th October with Sai Smaran Bhajans, our garland of devotional songs offered in gratitude at the Lotus Feet of our Lord, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Six hours of continual, stirring and stimulating singing in Leicester charged the environment with divine vibrations. Around 300 devotees from around the country had congregated for this divine experience. Look out for the article and pictures in this month's edition.

October 20th was an important day for devotees around the country when they celebrated Avatar Declaration Day. This day commemorates the 20th October 1940, when Sathyanarayan, as Baba was then called, stood on the outer doorstep of His home, cast aside his school books that he was carrying and called out: "I am no longer your Sathya. I am Sai." As family and nearby onlookers came rushing to see, they were blinded by a brilliant halo surrounding Baba's head. He continued, "I am going; I don't belong to you; Maya has gone; My bhaktas are calling Me; I have My Work; I can't stay here any longer". When His brother hurried home on hearing all this, Baba only told him, "Give up all your efforts to 'cure' Me. I am Sai; I do not consider Myself related to you".

To mark this sacred occasion, Youth of UK chose Refuge UK, a charity that provides specialist support for women and children experiencing domestic violence as their project to serve the planet. Centre devotees were called into action who donated around 300 packs containing range of stationary to Refuge UK for use by children. Inspite of the very time given, Love the invisible Hand of God removed all obstacles and made the undertaking a success.

Devotees celebrated the Festival of Light, the Hindu festival of Diwali on the 23rd October. This was a joyous occasion for everyone to bridge the bond of brotherhood with fellow beings and to remind oneself of the significance behind Diwali that Bhagawan used to remind namely, to light the lamp within so as to dispel the darkness!

There is excitement in the air with centres engaged this month in the visualising and planning of programmes for the upcoming Akhanda Bhajans (8th / 9th November) and Baba's Birthday Celebrations.

The National Birthday Celebrations will be held on the 15th of November to commemorate the 89th Birthday of our Lord. The theme is ‘Love is My Form'; Mrs Phyllis Krystal will be our special guest speaker. To avoid disappointment, please register as soon as possible at:
