Introduction

National Easwaramma Day 2016

Dear Brothers, Sisters and Children,
Jai Sai Ram!

It is with great pleasure that I am writing to invite you to the National Easwaramma Day celebrations which will be held on Saturday 7th May 2016. This is an opportunity for our children, parents, teachers, youth and devotees to come together from across the United Kingdom to express their heartfelt gratitude to our Divine Mother Sai and to the glory of motherhood.

Swami has dedicated Easwaramma Day as Children's Day the world over and children are encouraged to participate in a variety of ways to express their gratitude and reverence to our parents who are our first Gurus. The theme for this year's celebration is 'WATCH'.

Delivering a discourse on 20th November 2002 in Prashanthi Nilayam, our dearest Bhagavan has said:

"Educare is bringing out the latent divinity in a human being. Whatever words you speak, you must watch whether they are the result of your education or educare. Today, nobody is keeping this watch. I often refer to the spelling of the word, WATCH. The spelling consists of five letters, namely, W A T C H.

These letters stand for: W' is for watch your Words; 'A' is for watch your Actions; 'T' is for watch your Thoughts; 'C' is for watch your Character; 'H' is for watch your Heart. If the watch reminds you every second of the need to watch these five, you can be quite happy. The real watch is when you keep a watch on your words, actions, thoughts, character, and heart; not the one you tie to your wrist. The wrist-watch may go for repair, but the word 'watch' will never get spoiled. It will always bring purity of thought, word and deed."

At the start of the year the SSE children started their 'WATCH' programme as part of their spiritual diary and daily sadhana. They have been enthusiastically observing this nationally co-ordinated activity which will culminate as heartfelt offerings on Easwaramma Day.

In preparation for National Easwaramma Day, many of our SSE children from many different centres from across the UK have participated in a Poster and Poem event held in the months of February and March this year on the theme of "WATCH".

It was very evident that a lot of effort, creativity and thought had gone into these posters and poems from the children who participated. One such wonderful poster has been selected to be made into the flyer for the occasion. The winning poem entry will be published in the Love and Light Publication. All the poster and poem entries will be displayed on the day at the venue for all to see.

The programme for the day will include the children's procession and pledge ceremony, group devotional singing, dances, skits, inspirational talks and interactive service oriented activities for the children to participate in.

The planning team look forward in welcoming you on this sacred and joyous occasion.
