National
At the National Sai Smaran event, plastic plates, cups and cutlery were replaced with biodegradable alternatives.

Region 1
A pledge to replace serving of prasadam on plastic plates and instead using biodegradable plates.

Region 2
Elimination of plastic bottles and plastic bin liners with the replacement of biodegradable alternatives. Biodegradables plates, cups and cutlery are in place. At future events, biodegrable plates may be replaced with stainless steel plates.

Region 4
Biodegradable plates, cups and cutlery has been used at all Regional events, in the future these may be replaced with stainless steel plates.

At Family Values Day, the SSE children and parents participated in a fun canvas bag decorating activity, which encouraged the reduction of plastic bag use in place of using their new personalised canvas bags.

Region 5
A pledge to reduce the use of plastics, by replacing the use of plastic plates, cups and cutlery at all future Regional events, and instead using biodegradable alternatives.

Study circle material was used to conduct a study circle at Bradford Centre.

At the Region 5 and 8 Retreat, SSE children will participate is Envirocare activities.

Reducing plastic use
As a Region, we have taken the pledge to reduce the use of plastics, by replacing the use of plastic plates, cups and cutlery at Regional events, and instead using biodegradable alternatives. If Centres wish to also take up this initiative, they are encouraged to do so by contacting the regional team for more information.

We encourage all Centres to actively look at where they can reduce the use of plastics, including plastic bags and plastic take-away or storage boxes.

Environmental Service Project
As a region, we will build on existing service activities and offer the opportunity for all devotees to join in local and regional environmental focused service projects. The Young Adult and Service wing will give more information on this shortly.

SSE Ceiling on Desires International Poster and Essay challenge
An International SSE Poster and Essay Competition will launch on the auspicious occasion of Guru Poornima Day, with a finale on Avatar Declaration Day on 20th October, which is also the finale for Serve the Planet. Our SSE children are encouraged to participate in each aspect of Serve the Planet and express their experiences as a poster or essay. The Young Adult and SSE Wing will give more information on this shortly.
