'Human Values - The Foundation of Humanness'

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Om Sri Sai Ram.

With the Infinite Grace and Blessings of our Divine Master, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, it is my privilege to announce the National Christmas Celebrations 2016 on the theme: 'Human Values - The Foundation of Humanness'.

Date: Sunday, 11th December 2016
Time: 11am to 4.30pm
Venue: Cheltenham Ladies College, Bayshill Road, GL50 3EP

Bhagawan Baba has often times reminded us that amongst all beings that are created by God, it is the human being that is considered as the crest jewel. For, it is only the human being that has been endowed with the power of self-inquiry and discrimination between good and bad. And thus, the ability to effect a change in our mindsets, nature, character and heart. Human nature is indeed an amalgamation of animal, human and divine characteristics. But through careful inquiry and constant practise of divine qualities such as love, compassion, humility and charity, that are inherent in all human beings, we can transform ourselves into the divine beings that we truly are! Lord Jesus's life has been a glowing example and inspiration for such exciting possibilities open to all of us in our lifetime as humans on earth.

"A lamp kept on a mound illumines the area; if kept in a pit, it is as if it were not. A virtue that is practised is a lamp that shines for all; good thoughts and good deeds have a way of influencing others. The gems of wisdom, the light of intuitive experience should not be kept away from fellowmen. They have to be shared, even at the cost of one's life. That was the lesson Jesus taught and symbolised". - Sri Sathya Sai Baba, 25 December 1982. (SSS 15:59)

The National Christmas Celebrations will be one such grand occasion to come together and share our lamp of wisdom and experience with each other, and spread the Light of Human Values to the communities around us.

The day will include Prayers, The Christmas Service- Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols, The Christmas Sermon by Reverend Katie McClure, SSE Plays, Music and Talks. As part of these celebrations, we will also be offering Items of Food to the Foodbanks, and Items of Clothing to Refuge UK. Anyone who wishes to volunteer for this activity, is requested to bring along the item(s) of your choice to the celebrations.

I am immensely delighted to announce that Ms Katinka van Lamsweerde from Amsterdam will be our esteemed Guest Speaker on the day. Sister Katinka is an ardent Sai devotee and serves as the National President for SSIO Netherlands. Since 1991, when she first came to Swami, she has worked in sharing the light of human values through SSEHV in various countries such as Lao PDR, Thailand, Haiti and others.

On behalf of the Central Council, SSIO UK, I warmly welcome all of you along with your family and friends to the National Christmas Celebrations and enjoy the uplifting programme on the day.
